He was born March 29, 1924 in Muncie, the son of Edward and Opal (Holmes) Hodge. Alan attended Muncie schools and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1942.
Alan worked for Delco Remy for over 40 years. He served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps and the US Army Air Corps as a Sergeant during WWII. Alan was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) and the Moose Lodge. He and his wife Clara had spent many hours volunteering at Ball Hospital and both were very active members of Riverside Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include three children; Michael Hodge (wife, Reva) of Gaston, Sherry Grove (husband, Michael) of Muncie and Jerry Arnold (wife, Leca) of Michigan; sixteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 44 years, Clara Ann Hodge, on March 1, 2012; a daughter, Vickie Kreider; and one sister, Madonna Conklin.
