ANOTHER PIONEER GONE
Thomas D. Stewart Dead
The good people of Wayne township, were stricken with sorrow Thursday morning when the death of Thomas D. Stewart was announced. The summons came so sudden as to shock all of his acquaintances. Only a few days before his death he was in Lisbon with his wife transacting business and now he is no more. The end came at 2 o'clock Thursday Morning, November 23, at his rural home near West Beaver. Paralysis was the cause of death.
The deceased was in the eightieth year of his age. He was one of the oldest and best men in Wayne township. He was beloved and esteemed by all his neighbors. He had no enemies. He attended strictly to his own business and he prospered well. In his home he was the idol of the family. His wife and daughters were devoted at all times, and it has always been their pleasure to make him happy. Now in their sorrow they have no regrets, as they were always kind to a good husband and father.
Mr. Stewart was a man of splendid judgment, and succeeded well with his business of farming. In politics he was a devoted follower that greatest of commoners, Thomas Jefferson and never swerved from the faith. The PATRIOT will miss him. He has been one of our most faithful patrons. His name has been on our list for probably fifty years. The remains will be laid to rest at Bethel church on Saturday. Funeral services at the church at 11 o'clock a.m. The deceased was a consistent member of the Presbyterian church.
