Just 10 months after Lizzie Borden alledgedly killed her father and step mother on August 4th 1892 in the very same Fall River Mass... She was killed with 23 wacks to the head by an axe. on June 5th 1893, the same day that Lizzie Borden's trial began, her killer was caught. His name was Jose Correira, a former worker under her father. He had been fired during a argument between him and Stephen Manchester. He came back to the farm on May 31st. He couldn't find Stephen so she found Bertha in the kitchen and killed her. Because of the rips on her clothing, the police said that she apparently fought back. Correira was put on trial and was found guilty. He was sentenced to life in prison. Bertha was 22 at the time of her murder.
