Camela "Cammie" Barker, 46, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Jan. 6, 2010, in Boise at St. Luke's Hospital.
Cammie was born on June 10, 1963, in Moorhead, Minn. Her family moved to Kuna, Idaho, in 1974. As a young woman, Cammie loved participating in rodeos and was a champion barrel racer. She loved every minute of it. She won many races and many trophies. In 1981, she won the Gem State Rodeo Association All Around saddle.
As an adult, Cammie worked at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center for 15 years where she held many positions. She had two wonderful boys, Zach (almost 18 years) and Tyler (14 years). Zach will be attending the University of Idaho in the fall and Tyler attends Cross Roads Middle School. The last nine years of her life, she fought and stayed strong in her battle with lupus. Her mother, Dee, was vigilant and tireless in her support and care of Cammie.
Cammie is survived by her loving parents, Dee Barker of Boise and Larry and Gloria Barker of Genesee; sons Zach and Tyler Hargrove of Meridian, Idaho; brothers Scott (and Sam) Barker of Nampa, Idaho, Shane (and Holly) Barker of Meridian, Ross Barker of Genesee and Cord Barker of Seattle; sisters Rachel Kappelmann of Utah, and Destiny Barker of Genesee; nieces Brittany Barker of Meridian, Chelci Barker of Nampa and Mia Barker of Meridian; nephews Scotty, Tre and Dru Barker of Meridian. Cammie was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and Aunt Cindy Novak.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. today, Jan. 12, 2010, at the Risen Christ Catholic Community, 11511 Lake Hazel Road, Boise, ID 83709, (208) 362-9545. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at the Risen Christ Catholic Community, 11511 Lake Hazel Rd., Boise, ID 83709, (208) 362-9545.
