Fletcher W. Dulin was born on the Concord Township, Delaware County, OH, family farm of his parents, Edward & Sarah (Dilts) Dulin. He was married in Delaware County on November 7, 1861, to Martha Ann Bowersmith. Fletcher was killed at age 22, along with four other young men, when a steam boiler the men were operating in conjunction with a saw mill suddenly exploded. The four other men killed were: John Baighly, John Bugh, John M. Bowersmith, and Asa McCawley. Four of the five men are buried at Mount Zion Cemetery. According to newspaper articles, Fletcher Dulin was apparently standing closest to the boiler and was killed instantly. Reporters noted that the grisly explosion site became a destination of choice for hundreds of curiosity seekers from the nearby city of Columbus. Fletcher's father Edward Dulin was asked to speak at his son's funeral. Edward reportedly opined that Fletcher "was a boy he could trust."
