Silas Barnum Chatfield, Adams, Town of Troy, Walworth County, Wisconsin, died of a massive stroke while having breakfast on February 8, 1908. When he was but two or three years old, the family moved to Chenango County, New York. Here the mother died, when he was but seven years old, and three years later, the father died. She died December 31, 1854, leaving two children; Norman Alonzo and Levi Leroy Chatfield. In 1857 he married Catheryn L. Gasper Kling, daughter of Jacob Kling and Dorothy Gasper. Silas was very active in building the Adams community from its name, first school, church, creamery and cemetery. Silas was buried in the Adams Cemetery in the Chatfield family lot.
