Born to Frank Kupferer and wife. He emigrated in 1850. Charles (or Carl) Kupferer was a private in the 15th New York Heavy Artillery during the Civil War. On 8 Oct 1866, the Superior Court in New York City granted him citizenship as a result of his being an Army veteran. From 1890-1910, Charles Kupferer was listed in the Peoria City Directory. In the 1900 directory, his address was 1601 Smith St. The 1900 US census reports a person named "Klopferer", who was born in Germany in Jun 1830. He was married, but the wife's name is not given.
