Alan Dean Decker, age 62, of Huron, died Thursday, August 1, 2013, at the Sanford USD Medical Center at Sioux Falls. His funeral service was Monday, August 5th at the Prairie Bible Church, rural Carpenter, with Rev. David Erdman and Rev. Rod Poppinga, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Alan Dean Decker was born on April 6, 1951, to Richard and Anna (Wipf) Decker at Huron, South Dakota. He grew up at Huron and graduated from James Valley High School in 1969. He attended Grace Bible College and Mitchell Technical Institute.

On August 20, 1988, Alan married Patricia Eileen Moes at Huron. Alan work as Head of Maintenance for Zip Feed. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Church. Alan loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, farming, camping, and riding his motorcycle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Anna Decker; one brother, Leonard Decker; one grandson, Owen Eaglestar; his father-in-law, Gerald Moes; and two nieces and one nephew, Nichole Lotzer, Dana Beaudry and Gary Moes.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Patricia of Huron; five children, Charles (Amie) Decker of Carpenter, Travis Decker of Huron, Melissa Decker of Huron, Jennifer Decker of Mitchell and Anna (Dustin) Walraven of Sioux Falls; ten grandchildren, Chayton Eaglestar, Patrick Decker, Grace Lynn Decker, Kasandra Decker, Orieana Decker, Malcom Decker, Alexis Decker, Alycia Decker, Aliyah Decker and Leo Walraven; one sister, Diane Loewen of Kansas; his mother-in-law, Eileen Moes of Goodwin; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Thersa (Denis) Drake, Peggy Moes, Greg (Julie) Moes, Jim (Kathy) Moes, Sue (Tom) Beaudry, John (Donita) Moes, Joe (Carla) Moes, Laurie (Thomas) Chipman, Michele (Larry) Hard, and Jeff (Lynnette) Moes.
