GASTONIA — Maford McKinley Sanders, 81, 304 S. Highland St., died June 30, 1999, at home.

He was a native of Ducktown, Tenn., son of the late Dewey Columbus Sanders and Delphia Elizabeth Ellis, brother of the late Pascale Sanders and Flossie Green, Army veteran, Private First Class, retired from Firestone Textiles, member of South Gastonia Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church, Sunday school teacher for 40 years.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Gertrude Chastain Sanders; son and daughter-in-law, David and Sandy Sanders, Gastonia; daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and Sam West, Carla and George Smith, Gastonia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dewey and Peggy Sanders, Kermit and Barbara Sanders, Kingsport, Tenn., Kenneth and Sue Sanders, Hummelstown, Pa., Jimmy Sanders, Morristown, Tenn.; sisters and brother-in-law, Kaye and Dave Newkirk, Chester, Va., Geneva Trapp, Blackwater, Va., Bernice Wallen, Pennington Gap, Va., Arenda Russell, Kingsport, Tenn.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild
