Sgt. David Kenneth J. Kreuter of Cincinnati, Ohio was a native of Hamilton County's Miami Township and graduate of St. Xavier High School. He attended Ohio University and earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 2004 from the University of Cincinnati. The 1997 high school graduate joined the reserves in 1998. Long before the military ever sent David overseas, there was a Boy Scout in love with the outdoors. As a adult, David planned to make serving in the Marines a career after his tour of duty in Iraq. He had been sent to patrol the border in Anbar province in March. Anbar, Iraq's largest province, shares a border with Jordan, Syria and Saudi Arabia. He is survived by his wife, Chrystina, and newborn son, Christian, a seven-week-old baby. In addition to his mother and son, he leaves his father, Ken Kreuter, two sisters, Kristin and Laura. He was killed at age 26 when his amphibious assault vehicle was attacked by an improvised explosive device while he was conducting combat operations south of Haditha, Iraq.
