Alvin P. Black

Alvin Parker Black, age 89, of Tuscumbia, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013.

His family will receive friends Friday, 11-1 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. His graveside service will follow at 1:30 at Shoals Memorial Garden with Eddie Wix officiating.

Mr. Black was a Tuscumbia native, served in the Navy during WWII and was a member of Church of the Nazarene of Muscle Shoals. He was retired from the Foundry of the Shoals and was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Lewey Black.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Cornett Black, of Tuscumbia; son, Steve Black (Debbie); daughters, Jo Ann Fry (Jimmie), Jane "Toppy" Hovater (Charles); brother, Homer Black; sisters, Bea Pardue and Shirley Owens; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Fry Jr., Parker Wright, Logan Wright, Chandler Spain, Jacob Fry, Wes Inman and Steve Black.
