Marcus married Gina Lee on Oct 10, 1883 at LaCrosse, WI. They were the parents of 8 children: Lorenz, Esther, Arthur, Ruth, Clarence, Marcus, Lydia, and one who died in infancy.

March 29, 1917 - Newell Mirror - The late Rev. Marcus Hansen from Iowa City, Ia., was brought here for burial last Thursday, March 22. He died at the age of 66 years from asthma and a complication of diseases.

Mr. Hansen was pastor of the Baptist church here from 1894-1898. He had been in the ministry for forty years, and served different churches in this and other states, and was held in high esteem where he was known.

Mr. Hansen leaves a wife and seven children to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. He has raised a family of which any one might justly be proud. Three are ordained ministers, one girl married to a minister. When the youngest girl has finished her last year, they have all seven gone through college, and three have received the degree of Master of Arts from the University of Chicago, and one is now in the university at their home city working for a higher degree.

The funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church here. A large number were present to pay their last respect to the deceased, and show their sympathy to the bereaved family.
