Ray V. Ross
Virgil "Ray" Ross, 78, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital & Health Centers in Beech Grove. He was a resident of Indianapolis.
He was born March 12, 1924, in Shelby County. His parents were Earl and Myrl (Wicker) Ross. He married Deloris (Maffett) Ross. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Steve Ross of Spencer; two sisters, Fern Hargrove and Ruth Brewer, both of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dan Ross; and a daughter, Becky Burt.
He operated an Amoco Service Station for 17 years and was a mail courier for a bank for six years.
He was a 50-year member of Prospect Lodge 714 F&AM.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
A service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Indianapolis. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
