Charles William "Bill" Barker, 63, died Friday, Nov. 15, 1996, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Barker was a graduate of the Independence High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1956. He had retired from the Brunswick Corporation after 37 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Iva Farmer Barker; one daughter, Debbi Y. BeVille, Charlottesville; one son, Rick Barker, Fairfax; two sisters, Mary James, Grant, and Alma Joines, Sparta, NC; four half-sisters, Bobbie Jean Taylor, Arlington; Arvinia Hart and Lettie Mae Dean, both of Thomasville, NC; and Betty Tibbs, Rural Retreat; four brothers, Garnett Barker, Elkton, MD; Herbert Barker, Troutdale; Ray Barker and Robert Barker, both of Marion; one half-brother, Dexter Barker, Bland; two grandchildren, Alex and Adam BeVille.

Funeral services were conducted in the Seaver-Brown Chapel, Marion, with the Rev. Rex Hall officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Francis Marion VFW Post No. 4667. The Seaver-Brown Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
