Alex Riley, 70, 731 Evergreen Street, died at the Baptist hospital at 3:55 o'clock Saturday morning after an illness of six weeks.

Mr Riley was a native of Clark County, a retired farmer and had made his home in Jackson since 1939.

Mr Riley was a member of the Van Winkle Baptist Church.

He is survived by his widow, the former Agnes Slay; his mother, Mrs Elizabeth M Riley, Quitman; two sons, I G Riley and Z G Riley, Jackson; two daughters, Mrs W O Mauldin, Waynesboro and Mrs J B Butler, Jackson; five brothers, John D, G C, C C, and F M, Quitman and E J, Little Rock, Ark; three sisters, Mrs O C Moore, Mrs J J Grayson and Mrs J L Ivy, Quitman.

Funeral services will be held from the Van Winkle Baptist church at 11 o'clock Monday morning, with Rev H A Milner, Rev D W Moulder and Rev Deb Stennis of Meridian, officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.

His body will be at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will be Willie Higdon, Homer Kitchens, Hilton Fairchild, C J Flynt, Floyd Coleman, J E Holeman, Van Cotton, Hendrix Murphy, Tom Wardell, W D Norsworthy, C E Hawkins, Bill Reves Tew, Earl Hindrexson and W L Watts.
