Mary Evelyn Sparks Brown Burkhardt, 86, passed away January 29, 1999, in St. George, Utah.

She was born June 19, 1912, in Dingle, Idaho, to John Henry and Helen Charlotta Wilcox Sparks. She married Hyrum Thomas Brown; he died in 1946. In 1947 she married Arthur Burkhardt; he died in 1980.She loved music and played the organ and piano. She enjoyed crocheting, was an avid reader especially history books.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheila (Don) Hughes; two daughters-in-law, Sally Martin and Carol Brown; grandchildren, Todd Hughes, Traci Maxcy, Chad Brown, Spencer Brown, Andrea Brown, and Ryan Brown; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Nell Bateman, Doris Weaver, Fern Keetch, and Maxine Swa. Preceded in death by parents, husbands, sons, Tom Brown and John Brown, and eight brothers.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 6, 1999, 12 noon at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Dr., where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Funeral directors, Peel Funeral Home
