Bertha A. Bleicher, 84, Rt. 3, Winamac, passed away at 4;17 p.m. Aug 16 in Pulaski Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health for two years. A resident of the area since 1939, she came here from Chicago. Born Feb. 7, 1904 in Chesterton, she was the daughter of John and Bertha Krause Schieman. She married Bruno F. Bleicher on May 24, 1924 in Chicago, who died Nov. 22, 1943. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ripley Gospel Chapel, War Mothers and the Pulaski County Christian Women's Club. Surviving are two daughters, Gertrude Stout, Winamac, and Esther Dust, Highland; four sons, Carl, Sunrise, Fla., Robert, Buffalo, Lewis, Candler, Fla., and Edward, Marysville, Wash.; two sisters, Lydia Liedtky, North Judson and Martha Sehstedt, Winamac; one brother, Edward Schieman, Spenser; 31 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, three brothers and one grandson. Funeral services were held Friday in Frain Mortuary with Pastors Arnold Keaton and Frank Munsey officiating. Burial was in the Winamac Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ripley Gospel Chapel.
