Barbara Jean Marcusse passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. She was 83.
Barbara was born on February 2, 1930, to Bertha Paul and Leonard Altman. She married Leonard Marcusse on April 4, 1952, in South Bend, Ind.
She drove a bus for McBain and Falmouth schools and retired after 23 years. She loved working on the farm and driving her John Deere tractor. She enjoyed gardening. She bowled on the same league for 55 years and was honored in the Cadillac Bowling Hall of Fame. She enjoyed softball and golfed on two different leagues. She loved cross stitching, playing cards and casino bus trips. She looked forward to her nightly rides around Lake Cadillac and Mitchell.
She is survived by her best friend, Cheri Ault; children, Debbie (Bob) Cascino, Diane (Jack) Hoekwater, Donna (Robert) Buckel, Darlene (Greg) Smith, David (Shelly) Marcusse, Dennis Marcusse, and Dawn (Steve) Emmons; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters, Betty (Robert) Brinks, and Beverly (Harvey) Mulder; a brother, Paul (Pat) Altman; and a sister-in-law, Joann (Steve) Johnson; many nieces and nephews, and her kitties, Snickers and BooBoo.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Marcusse; parents, Leonard and Bertha Altman; and a brother, Max Altman.
Services will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Lake City Christian Reformed Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Burkholder Family Funeral Home, at 211 N. Pine St., McBain, 231-825-8191.
