William and his father Truman Hecox are listed on the 1810 Athens County, OH Tax lists as are several Halseys.

William and his family were in Meigs County, OH in 1820 and in Adams County, IL in 1830. William owned the northeast quarter of Section 10, Township 1N, Range 8W.

He and brother Sylvester Hecox signed a promissory note in favor of Erastus Dudley on 1 Feb 1837.

Burial location is most likely in Hancock County, IL, as several of his children were living there in 1850, but no record has been found. If the location of his burial can be furnished, memorial will promptly be transferred to the correct cemetery.
