GARDNER, Chester Wiley, 83, of Route 1, Pulaski, died Friday night, February 9, 1996, at Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem.

He was born in Carroll County on February 13, 1912, and was the son of the late John Gardner and Jesse Coulson Gardner.

He was a retired employee of Hercules Inc. of Radford, and a member of the Thornspring United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Frost Gardner.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Geneta) Kidd of Radford; one sister, Leona Harrison of Mocksville, N.C.; one brother, Lowman Gardner of Carroll County, and two grandchildren, Mitzi Kidd of Charlotte, N.C., and Richard Kidd Jr. of Radford.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Thornspring United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Doug Hyndrich and the Rev. Cecil Albano officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening at Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Pulaski County Life Saving Crew, P. O. Box 368, Dublin, Va. 24084. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
