GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Frances E. Boyd, 90, of Gerrardstown, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Winchester Medical Center. : Born Nov. 7, 1911, in Gerrardstown, she was the daughter of the late James Calvin and Bessie Thompson Aikens. :

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John A. Boyd. : She was a graduate of Martinsburg (W.Va.) High School. : She was a homemaker, retired from C.H. Musselman Plant, and she later worked at other apple packing industries. : She was a member of Gerrardstown United Methodist Church where she was a member of Anna Lee Sunday school class. :

She is survived by four children, Janet Boyd and Sharon Boyd, both at home, Paul Boyd of Gerrardstown and Joyce Braithwaite of Inwood, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. :

She was preceded in death by two children, Charlotte and James. : Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Gerrardstown United Methodist Church. The Rev. Elizabeth P. Smith and Pastor Irene Pough will officiate. Burial will be in Gerrardstown Presbyterian Cemetery.
