Sarah was born in Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut about 1638. She was the daughter of William Holton and Mary Winche. Her family moved to Northampton, Hampshire, Massachusetts about 1653. Sarah and her sister Mary were both married the same day, November l8, l656, Mary to David Burt and Sarah to John King, they were the first two marriages solomnized in Northampton. Sarah and John had ten children, all born in Northampton. Sarah died in Northampton on May 8, 1683, thirteen days after the birth of her last child. She was buried in the Bridge Street Cemetery.
