Eugene R. Hunt was born the 14th of March 1827 at Bethany, Geness County, New York and died the 29th of October 1887 at Menlo, Guthrie County, Iowa, he is buried at the Old Menlo Iowa Cemetery. He served in the Cival War, Union Forces 112th Regiment, Illinois Infantry Co. E, Under Capt. Otmans Co. Then detailed as teamster to the Division Supply Train under the command of Brig. Gen. J.D. Cox. Seen duty at Atlanta Kenesaw Mountain, Battle of Resaca, Battle of Franklin, and Battle of Nashville.
