Mother Of 13 Dies

Mrs. Anna Bickelmeier [sic], mother of William Bickelmeier of Tecumseh, died at her home in Holton, Kans., Monday forenoon, at the age of 74 years and four months.

Mrs. Beckelmeier was injured on August 29 last, when she fell down the basement steps with a boiler of scalding water. She had since been bedfast, gradually failing until death relieved her suffering.

Anna Semler was born in Bavaria, Germany, where she received her schooling, was married to Joseph Bickelmeier 55 years ago. They came to the United States in 1875, locating in Iowa, later moving to South Dakota. In 1896 they moved from South Dakota to Pierce county, Nebr., then to Wisconsin and later to Kansas, where she passed away.

Funeral services were held at Holton, and burial made at Holton [sic], Kans., by the side of her husband, who died 14 years ago. The deceased had been a lifelong member of the Catholic church, and the last services were conducted by Rev. Father O’Niell.

Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bicklemeier and 11 survive their parents. – Johnson County Journal.
