Christopher 23 Dec 1746 Exeter, Washington, RI, USA 3 PAGE Vol. 1, pg. 200 and died 1833 Arlington, VT, USA

He appears on a list (as Mory) of Lt. Weightman's Co. which marched 06 Jan 1777; and on Lt. Stephen Weightman's payroll list dated Apr 1777. Also Lt. Stephen Whitman's Co., Exeter, to march on 06 Apr 1777 to guard the shore; and on a list (as Many) of Capt. Jonathan Bates' Jr. Co., Col. Charles Dyre's 2d Regiment in Kings County, called together 25 May 1777. (National Archives for the 2nd RI Regiment).

Christopher Mowry appears in the 1774 census in Exeter with 2 males over 16 and two females over 16. As Christopher Jr. was already born, perhaps there was a recording error by the census taker. Joseph and Samuel Mowry also appear in the 1774 census in Exeter. Christopher does not appear in the 1777 military census of RI, but Exeter is one of six towns for which returns are missing. Christopher appears in the census of 1782 in Exeter with one male and one female under 16, one male and one female aged 22-49, and one female aged 50 or above. The 1790 Federal census shows him still in Exeter with one male over 16, one male under 16 and two females. 18 Sep 1799: Christopher purchased land in Arlington, VT. (Arlington Ld Rcds) 02 Sep 1800: Christopher Morey takes freeman's oath in Arlington. 26 Jan 1801: Christopher conveys 90 acres of land to Nathan Hathaway (Exeter Land Evidence 5:433). He appears in the 1800-1830 censuses in Arlington, the last in the age 80-90 category, name spelled Mory, Morey and Mowry. He died in the spring of 1832, according to probate records, and his wife Alice (Elsey) died two years later. He left a will dated 29 May 1819 in which he named wife Elsey, son Christopher, daughter Mary, wife of Job Harrington, and grandson Christopher Harrington co-executor of the Will. When it came time to settle the estate Christopher Harrington was disqualified as executor because he was no longer living in Vermont. He was in St. Armand, PQ, CAN. Due to the size of Christopher Morey's debts, his estate was handled intestate, so his widow could claim her share.
