Mrs. Tornell Dies at 92

Mrs. Peter (Lottie) Tornell, 92 died last night at the Holy Family Hospital. Cause of death was due to complications of advanced age.

Mrs. Tornell, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gifford, was born July 4, 1870, in Mineral Ridge in Boone County. She received her education in Mineral Ridge and Boone schools. Following their marriage on March 23, 1893, in Rolfe, Mr. and Mrs. Tornell settled on a farm near Armstrong. They moved to Estherville In the spring of 1917. Mrs. Tornell joined the Congregational Church in Humboldt on Oct. 7, 1888, and later became a charter member of the Presbyterian Church at Haifa. Upon moving to Estherville she transferred her membership to the Estherville Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Tornell was a member of Rebekah Lodge and Presbyterian Fidelias Class.

Mrs. Tornell is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lester (Gladys) Stevens, Estherville; Mrs. Fred (Harriett) Jorgensen, Los Angeles Calif.: Mrs. W. G. (Luolla) Stephens, San Leandro, Calif.; two sons, Leonard Tornell and Dr. R. R Tornell, both of Los Angeles Callif.; six grandchildren and ?? great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services are pending at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, Iowa, November 3, 1962)
