HITCHCOCK — Mrs. Leola Fulton, the Cornerstone and mother of the Greater New Light Baptist Church of Hitchcock, departed this earthly life to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at UTMB Hospital in Galveston.

Mrs. Fulton, a homemaker, was born August 30, 1930, in Oakhurst, Texas to Garrett and Ellen Wilson. She was a dedicated and loyal member of Greater New Light Baptist Church where she was Financial Secretary, Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday School; a Deaconess, a Devotional Leader and Church Chaplain; and a member of the Missionary Society where she served as Prayer Partner and Treasurer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leslie Fulton, Sr.; a son and a brother.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Robert Lee Wilson of Hitchcock, Henry (Irma) Wilson, Diane Fulton, Dorothy Jean Fulton all of Houston, Wesley (Ofelia) Fulton of La Marque and Leslie Fulton, Jr. of Hitchcock; a sister,Melvine Richardson of Houton; devoted nieces, Patricia Cotton and Gladys (Frank) Douglas both of Texas City; 20 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m., Sunday, January 9, 2005, at the Greater New Light Baptist Church, 6538 Martin Luther King in Hitchcock followed by a wake from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday evening. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday, January 10, 2005, at the church with Pastor Thaddeus Brown, officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock under the direction of Mainland Funeral Home of La Marque.
