Bill was born the ninth of ten children, to Charles and Hazel Sellers Brough in Grandview, MO. Both parents preceded him in death, each at the age of 83.
He attended twelve years in the Hickman Mills School District, graduating in 1948 from Ruskin High School. Bill continued his education at Central Missouri State College at Warrensburg, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in 1957. His college was interrupted by service in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. His major duty station was on the USS Princeton CV 37, where he spent 37 months in the V-1 division (Flight Deck). His rating was AB 2 at the time of his discharge.
Bill later attended San Diego State and the Oregon College of Education, where he earned a Master's degree. His major profession was working in Juvenile Probation in San Diego, Marion County and Coos County, OR. He retired in 1988 as the Juvenile Court Director of Coos County. Following his retirement he held several jobs, including five yrs as Exec. Assistant for the Oregon Juvenile Department Directors Association. He was a tax preparer for H&R Block for fourteen years, served as a volunteer tax counselor for AARP over ten years, and treasurer at Capital Baptist Church for four years. Following his wife's retirement in 1995, he fully retired and they traveled extensively.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Bonita "Bonnie"; daughter, Marie Brough, Salem; Son, Bryce (Renee) Brough of Orlando, FL. Granddaughters include Elizabeth of Boise, ID, Amanda of Cornwall, Canada, and their spouses; Jocelynne, and grandson Garrett Brough of Orlando, FL; and great granddaughters Natalie Mae Kurtz and Victoria Anne Trotman. Also survived by a sister, Peggy Crouse of Jasper, AR, first cousins James (Sue) Brough, Lincoln, CA; Jo Weable of Salem; Betty Anderson, Independence, MO; many others cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. At his request there will be no formal funeral and a private family celebration will be held.
Bill was preceded in death by brothers, Roger, Robert, John and Raymond; and sisters Mildred, Marguerite, Francis Jo and Lois.
