Townville - Charles David "Buck" Smith, 65 of Route 2, Townville died early Thursday morning at Anderson Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born in Peolia, GA, he was a son of the late George Washington and Sara Lou Smith Smith. He was a retired salesman, a US Marine Corps, fourth division, veteran of World War II and a member of Double Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are wife, Mrs. Nana Osborne Smith; daughters, Mrs Sandra Collins of Enterprise AL, Mrs Jo Lene Lander of Newberry, Mrs Bonnie Malasky of Mt Pleasant; stepsons, Harrison Ayers of Simpsonville, Mickey Ayers of Moody Air Force Base; stepdaughter, Mrs Peggy Burke of Starr; sisters, Mrs Bertha Rhodes, Mrs Jeanette Anderson, Miss Alene Smith and Mrs Erma Jackson of Greenwood, Mrs Mary Hilley of Calhoun Falls; 40 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday at Double Springs Baptist Church conducted by the Rev D Doyle Burgess and the Rev William F Rochester. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body is at McDougald's North Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, and will be placed in the church at 2 pm Saturday. The family is at the home.
