Diane Kay Stafford, 50 years of age, of Holdrege (formerly of Imperial, Nebraska), passed away at her home Holdrege on July 9, 2013. Diane was born July 20, 1962 in Imperial, one of three children born to Carl and Gail (Patton) Stafford.

Diane attended primary school at the Lamar Grade School in Imperial and graduated from Chase County High School with the class of 1980. Following graduation, she attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Nebraska until 1983 majoring in art.

Following her education, Diane moved to Loveland, Colorado where she served as a caregiver for the mentally challenged. In 1997, Diane returned to Nebraska and was employed in various health care jobs in Benkelman, McCook, and Minden, Nebraska. She was a champion of the helpless and less fortunate and felt strongly about the rights of those less blessed than she was.

In recent years, she returned to the college campus at the University of Nebraska at Kearney part-time to pursue a degree in creative writing and was within a few credit hours of receiving her bachelor's degree.
