Ruth Afton Monsen 1924 ~ 2012
Ruth Monsen, our loving mother, and grandmother passed away December 18, 2012. Just 3 weeks from celebrating her 89th birthday.
Ruth was born January 9, 1924 to James Peterson and Florence Leggett Peterson Westphal. She married Shirrel Borg in 1940, and later divorced. She later married Robert Austin Monsen until his passing in 1978. Ruth was a huge fan of the Utah Jazz and never missed watching a game. She had such a spunky and loving sense of humor and always kept everyone laughing. She loved her family and devoted her time to her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy that will go on forever.
Ruth is survived by her children, Shirrel Eugene Borg, Nancy Gates, Kenneth Borg, Shirley Jackson, Joy Borg, Robert G. Monsen (Christie), Sandra Frazier (Marcus), and Jimmy Monsen; 24 grandkids, 45 great grandkids and 14 great great grandkids. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister, husbands, 2 children, and many grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 1pm at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 7pm-9pm and 12pm-1pm prior to services. Interment: Murray City Cemetery, 5600 S. Vine Street. Online condolences at www.jenkins-soffe.com.
