Miss Krista Lynn Smith, 17, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013. She was born in Durham to Howard Lee Smith and Lynn Smith.
Krista graduated with Honors from DSA in 2013 and had plans to attend nursing school next year. After dealing with a heart condition from birth, she wanted to help others. She enjoyed taking photography and the 3D media class and won several art awards.
Krista was very vivacious, full of life and always happy. She and her mom loved shopping together and Krista had a great fashion sense.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Wesley Eric Smith; aunts, Cindy Wheeler (Marty Hancock) of Raleigh, Beth and Jeff Board of Raleigh, Patsy and Brian McCowan of MA, Sandy Smith-Nonini and Don Nonini of Durham; uncle, Al and Jeanne Wheeler of Creedmoor and 8 cousins.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
