Biographical sketch from the book Maps and Directories of Medina County, Ohio dated 1897.

Among the leading young business men of this county the subject of this sketch stands in the front rank. Born in Lafayette township February 13, 1863, he has always remained here. He is engaged in farming and general stock raising, giving his greatest attention to the raising of first-class sheep. He is the son of G.C. and Lydia Carlson Buchanan, the former born in West Virginia, November 21, 1830, and the latter in Lafayette, February 10, 1835. Our subject is a member of the board of education of that township and is ever ready to do that which will be for the best interests of the schools. He is thorough and conservative, yet progressive and up to date. On May 24, 1885, he was married to Miss Mina Chamberlin of Lafayette. She was born April 16, 1865. To them have been born four children, three of whom are living.
