She graduated from Waldoboro High School, the Gorham State Normal School, and received her master's degree in education at University of Southern Maine. She taught at elementary schools in Union, Pittsfield and SAD No. 3 and will be remembered for her patience with her students. She loved animals and was an avid birdwatcher. She was a good cook and helped on the family farm, especially in the summer. Sheila attended People's United Methodist Church, Newport.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert "Billy" Gray of Troy; daughter, Sandi and husband, Philip Williams, of Topeka, Kan.; sister-in-law, Marion Kantola Overlock of Waldoboro; niece, Charlotte and husband, Ted Herrick, and their two daughters of Portland; aunt, Marie Hendrickson of Friendship; as well as several cousins in the United States and Finland. She was predeceased by brother, Rudy Kantola. Sheila's family would like to thank Hospice, Pastor Ellen Bridge, Belinda Wee, the ladies of the church for their care and support, as well as many friends, including Diane and Jim Nute.
