Mrs. Peter A. Collins, 89, Buried Thursday, June 1: Melissa Ellen, daughter of William and Mary Ryan Crow, was born in Kendalltown, March 17, 1861 and grew to womanhood there. After completing her studies in the local school she attended Platteville Normal and received her teacher's certificate. For several years she taught in the Cleary district school near Blanchardville. In the year 1883 [1886], she was united in marriage to Peter A. Collins and they settled on the Collins farm two miles west of Mineral Point.
Nine children were born to them of whom two, Earl and John died at the tender ages of three and seven years respectively.,... (29 May 1950 Democrat-Tribune Newspaper
