Born in Boston, the daughter of the late John S. and Cecelia (Barnard) Baybutt, she lived in Newton Highlands and Wellesley before moving to Mattapoisett 20 years ago.
Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Wheelock College.
She was a member of the Mattapoisett Women's Club. She was an active volunteer for F.I.S.H. in Mattapoisett and for various other organizations.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Linda Smith of Rochester; two grandchildren, Sara Ann Hester and Jeffrey Martin Hester; and a great-grandson, Nathan Hester.
She was the mother of the late Karen Smith.
A private Graveside Service will be held in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Marshfield.
