Mrs. Rodgers was born July 12, 1922, in Dayton, and was a daughter of the late Hobert Beery and Ada Lineweaver Heatwole and Elmer Heatwole.
She was a graduate of Bridgewater High School and a member of the St. James United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She volunteered at VMRC (Heritage Haven) in the office for 15 years and was named Mother of the Year in 1983 by the Weyers Cave Home Demonstration Club.
On July 12, 1941, she married Harry C. Rodgers, who died April 5, 1996.
Mrs. Rodgers is survived by sons, Carroll Rodgers and wife, Donna, Nelson Rodgers and wife, Kay, Steven Rodgers and wife, Cherie, and Dale Rodgers and wife, Dena; a daughter, Joyce Coakley and husband, Norman; brothers, James Heatwole, Donald Heatwole, Ronald Heatwole and Robert Heatwole; sisters, Evelyn Ray and Charlotte Kenney; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Millard Heatwole and Nelson Heatwole.
Pastor Dan Bassett and the Rev. Carrie Talbott will conduct a memorial service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at St. James United Methodist Church. Burial will be private at Spader's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
