Ailey - Mrs. Helen Tod Thompson, 87, died Saturday, March 29, 2003 at her residence. She was a native of Tattnall County and moved to Ailey in 1935. She was a homemaker, a member of the Vidalia Chapter of the D.A.R., and the Higgston Baptist Church.

She was the widow of Thomas Glenn Thompson.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by two daughters, Ann. T. Sheppard and husband Tommy of Douglas and Janice T. Hyche and husband Jerry of Simpsonville, SC; a son, Thomas J. Thompson and wife Judy of Ailey; eight grandchildren, Lynn Torrance of Swainsboro, Karen Rentz of Tallahassee, FL, Tod Hyche of Greenville, SC, Ashley Hyche of San Francisco, CA, Drew Hyche of Arden, NC, Michelle Guiterrez of Leesburgh, VA, Rhett Thompson of Ailey, and Helen Thompson of Atlanta; eight great-grandchilden; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 7:00-9:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 1 in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Reverend Fred Swann officiating.

Burial: Dead River Cemetery.

Remembrances: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Higgston Baptist Church, 512 James St., Higgston, GA 30410 or the American Cancer Society, c/o Debbie Helms, 707 Miracle Lane, Vidalia, GA 30474.
