Myrna Joy Shult
November 25, 1941 - July 11, 2013

Myrna Joy Baker Shult, 71, a resident of the Gaston community, went to rest in the loving arms of her Savior with her family by her side on Thursday July 11, 2013.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2700 Leon Drive in Forest Grove, Oregon.

Family and invited guests are welcome to attend a luncheon following the Funeral service to be held in the LDS Cultural Center.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Plain City Cemetery in Plain City, Utah.

Myrna was born on November 25, 1941 in Ogden, Utah. She was one of four children born to Victor and Leona (Wheeler) Baker. She attended school at Weber High School and graduated with the Class of 1960. Following High School, Myrna worked as an elevator operator at the Bank of Utah building and as a sales associate for the F.W. Woolworth Company.

She was united in marriage to Darrell Jay Spiers on August 16, 1963 and they made their home in Ogden. They divorced in 1971. She met her husband, Edward Shult, at church. They were married on July 13, 1973. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden Temple on July 13, 1974. Following their marriage, they made their home in Ogden. In 1977 they moved to Cornelius, Oregon and in 1979 they settled into the family home in Gaston, Oregon, where they have resided since.

Myrna was a homemaker and a loving mother to her five children. Her home was always open to her family and friends. It brought her immense pleasure to care for others and to lighten their burdens. When her children were nearly raised, she began working outside her home as a caregiver, as well as a greeter for both Kmart and Fred Meyers. She was an avid reader and followed "The Price is Right" daily.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in a variety of capacities in the Primary and Relief Society organizations. It brought her great pleasure to serve as a visiting teacher and many sweet friendships were formed because of this.

She is preceded in death by her mother and a brother, John Baker.

Survivors include her loving husband; Edward of the family home, five children and their spouses; Becky and Jon Wismer of Gaston, Oregon, and their children, Ashlie, Kyle, Katrina (Garrick), Samuel, Matthew and their grandson, Aiden; Jeffery Spiers and Thuy Hien Nguyen-Spiers, both of Vancouver, Washington, and their daughter Maria; Steven Spiers and Brenda Langlo, both of Forest Grove, Oregon, and his children Brian (Hala) and Joshua; Mark and Melanie Shult of Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, and their children Katlynn, Maddelann, Christofer, Alexandriana, Justin, Hunter and Tyler; Daniel and Patricia Shult of Hermiston, Oregon, and their children Lydia, Landon, Levi and Luke; her father, Victor Baker of Ogden, Utah; two brothers, George Baker of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jerry Baker of Clearfield, Utah.

The family suggests donations be made in Myrna's name to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints missionary fund.
