She loved and was much beloved by her husband of 57 years, son, grandchildren, siblings, and friends.
She was born in Greenwood, South Carolina to Hugh Thomas and Mary Buchanan Calhoun.
She graduated from Ninety Six High School and received her Business Degree from Winthrop University in Rockhill, SC.
She held positions with the Federal Government in Washington DC, GMAC in Columbia, SC and Norfolk, VA. She gave up her career to devote full time to her husband and children. Later, when her children were grown, she was called to start a Child Development Center at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Norfolk, VA and worked as Administrator for 12 years.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Wilder; son, Kenneth A. Wilder (Davidette); granddaughter, Holly Wilder Stutts (Kevin); grandson, David A. Wilder; brothers, James R. Calhoun (Ingrid) and William B. Calhoun (Darlene); and brother-in-laws, Bobby Lawson, Alvah M. Wilder (Judy).
She was predeceased by her son, Stephen J. Wilder; parents, Hugh and Mary Calhoun; brother, Thomas Calhoun; and her sister, Patricia Lawson.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, 1457 Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23455, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 1445 Norview Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513 or Norfolk Cosmopolitan Foundation, 1800 Fleet Terrace, Virginia Beach, VA 23454.
