Thomas did die at sea aboard the brig ANN GADSDEN from yellow fever on 8 Aug 1829, and another record says that he died on the 11th, he was in fact not buried at sea. They crew went ashore at "Cedar point in the west shore of the bay" in Chesapeake Bay and buried him there. This was attested to by the husband of Moses' eldest daughter - a lawyer - who travelled to see the grave and interview the crew members who explained that they were afraid of being quarantined upon arrival at Baltimore and so thought to bury him properly and then continue on to port. I am not from that area and several inquiries that I have made with local officials have not provided me with an exact grave spot.
