Javan was the son of Micajah Cicero Barnett Sr, and Frances White, daughter of Col Henry White of the Revolutionary War. Micajah was also a veteran of the Revolution.
Javan's Barnett grandparents were: Joseph & Lucy 'Wade' Barnett, Joseph
died in Goochland Co VA, Lucy died May 11, 1812, Spartanburg Co SC.
Javan and Rachel married, on Jan 5th, 1836, in Spartanburg County South Carolina.

Javan and Rachel left Spartanburg after the Civil War, about 1870, and settled in Columbia, Richland Co SC.

Javan served in the Civil War, with Co E, 5th SC State Troopers.

He returned to Spartanburg SC often to visit the Church he was ordained, and his Oldest daughters grave site up the Hill from Cedar Spring Baptist Church, his visits are recorded in this churches minutes.
The loss of his first born child, daughter Louisa Angelina White, weighed heavy upon his heart, she was a well respected and loved school teacher, dearly loved by her students and the community. Memorial's were written expressing their love and affections for her.
Javan worked for the Railroad for a time, which allowed him to visit Spartanburg and his daughters grave site, and the numerous family and friends that lived in the Spartanburg community.

Javan, son of Micajah, was ordained a deacon at Cedar Springs, and was a deacon (ref. made), in the Church he attended in Columbia. Javan, as his father did, returned to Cedar Springs Baptist, as a visitor, in 1898 and 1901, and lead the Prayer and Singing at its closing. He to returned to the Church of his spawning...

"Found in The State 11 January 1906 (notice the date compared to the headstone): Mr. Jovan (how it is spelled in the obituary) Barnett died in this city yesterday. He was 90 years old, having been born in Spartanburg county July 5, 1816 (again, notice the headstone), and moving to this city about 1871. Although of such an advanced age, he was vigorous up to the last few months of his life. He leaves the following children: Mrs. H. M. Davidson, Mrs. Laura E. Loudette, Mrs. S. B. Glass, Mrs. Alice Little, J. B. Barnett and W. M. Barnett, and 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. This he is survived by 42 descendants. The funeral will be held at the First Baptist church this afternoon at 3 o'clock and the interment will be in Elmwood cemetery. The pallbearers will be: Robert King, W. S. Pope, J. M. Quattlebaum, W. S. Lindsay, J. W. Conder and E. G. Quattlebaum."

Note:
Javan Barnett, married Rachel White daughter of William White, Robert Jr's Oldest brother. Though Javan moved to Columbia SC, he frequently returned to Spartanburg to visit his ole church, and his oldest daughter Louisa Angelina Barnett, a well loved school teacher in the community who died of sickness, which moved the community, she is buried up the hill from the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, at the churches cemetery. Javan made frequent visits back to Spartanburg.

Javan and Rachel left Spartanburg after the Civil War, about 1870, and settled in Columbia, Richland Co SC.

Javan served in the Civil War, with Co E, 5th SC State Troopers.

He returned to Spartanburg SC often to visit the Church he was ordained, and his Oldest daughters grave site up the Hill from Cedar Spring Baptist Church, his visits are recorded in this churches minutes.
The loss of his first born child, daughter Louisa Angelina White, weighed heavy upon his heart, she was a well respected and loved school teacher, dearly loved by her students and the community. Memorial's were written expressing their love and affections for her.
Javan worked for the Railroad for a time, which allowed him to visit Spartanburg and his daughters grave site, and the numerous family and friends that lived in the Spartanburg community.

Javan, son of Micajah, was ordained a deacon at Cedar Springs, and was a deacon (ref. made), in the Church he attended in Columbia. Javan, as his father did, returned to Cedar Springs Baptist, as a visitor, in 1898 and 1901, and lead the Prayer and Singing at its closing. He to returned to the Church of his spawning...

Thursday Jan 11, 1906 P.4, Col. 6.
"Found in The State 11 January 1906 (notice the date compared to the headstone): Mr. Jovan (how it is spelled in the obituary) Barnett died in this city yesterday. He was 90 years old, having been born in Spartanburg county July 5, 1816 (again, notice the headstone), and moving to this city about 1871. Although of such an advanced age, he was vigorous up to the last few months of his life. He leaves the following children: Mrs. H. M. Davidson, Mrs. Laura E. Loudette, Mrs. S. B. Glass, Mrs. Alice Little, J. B. Barnett and W. M. Barnett, and 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. This he is survived by 42 descendants. The funeral will be held at the First Baptist church this afternoon at 3 o'clock and the interment will be in Elmwood cemetery. The pallbearers will be: Robert King, W. S. Pope, J. M. Quattlebaum, W. S. Lindsay, J. W. Conder and E. G. Quattlebaum."

Though Javan moved to Columbia SC, he frequently returned to Spartanburg to visit his ole church, and his oldest daughter Louisa Angelina Barnett, a well loved school teacher in the community who died of sickness, which moved the community, she is buried up the hill from the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, at the churches cemetery. Javan made frequent visits back to Spartanburg.
