Kimmel died Oct. 8, 1944, in acton in Germany. He had served with Company B, 120th Infantry in battles in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. Prior to enlistment in Jan., 1943, Kimmel was employed at the Ford Bomber plant in Ypsilanti, Mich.
Francis was one of four sons of the Kimmel family serving their country during World War II. The other three were, William, who also served in the Army in Europe; Alfred, who served with the Navy; and Cyril who served as a lieutenant with the Merchant Marine.
