Billy D. Maxwell, 70, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 1:25 pm at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City with burial in Hamilton Cemetery, New Carlisle, Indiana. Visitation will be Saturday from 10am till the time of service at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. The John Franklin Miller American Legion Post 37 will conduct full military services Saturday at Hamilton Cemetery.

He was born February 25, 1943 in Houston, Arkansas to the late Aderson Odell & Lydia (Hale) Maxwell . On March 1, 1962 he married Alfreda Turner who survives Michigan City. Also surviving is a daughter, Deborah Littel of Atlanta, Georgia; Granddaughter, Sarah Troxell of Michigan City, Indiana; Grandson, Samuel (Christina) Troxell of Michigan City; Great-Grandson, Isaiah "Buddy" Williams; 2 Sisters, Lora Nethery of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Cora Davenport of Scottsville, Kentucky; 3 Brothers, James Edward (Linda) Maxwell of New Carlisle, Indiana, Charles (Marge) Maxwell of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Gary Maxwell of Scottsville, Kentucky; Many nieces, nephews and cousins survive; He was preceded in death by Daughter, June Troxell

He retired in 2003 after 30 years as a welder from Bethlehem Steel, Burns Harbor, Indiana. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with
