Douglas George "Doug" Blair Sr.
1940 - 2013
VETERAN

Early Life: Doug was born July 28, 1940, in Wing River Township, Minnesota, to Ernest G. and Verna Mae Blair. He grew up on the family farm.
Military Service: In February 1959, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served in San Diego, California, as well as, Oahu, Hawaii. Even after his honorable discharge in 1965, he proudly said, "Once a Marine, always a Marine."
Life's Work | Service | Interests: In 1966, Doug married and had four children. He owned and operated his own service station and was a volunteer fireman before moving to Montana. He worked as a mechanic most of his adult life and could fix just about anything. He loved airplanes and spent a lot of time building and flying his remote control planes. In 2003, he married Pat Mitchell of Hamilton, Montana. They built a happy life and his hugs will be missed throughout the valley. He enjoyed fishing, delivering Meals-On-Wheels, being a volunteer park watcher and was a proud member of the Marine Corps League. His grandkids always brought a smile to his face and spoiling them became a favorite hobby. Doug was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2011 and like the Marine he was, fought a valiant fight through it all. He had an amazing group of doctors and nurses that became friends. Doug is love by many and will be missed by all. Douglas George "Doug" Blair Sr., of Hamilton, Montana, was called home on Friday, June 28, 2013, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was 72. Semper Fi.
