ANDREW PURKEY DEAD
Andrew Purkey died this morning at his home, 1402 Garfield Avenue, of paralysis. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Free Methodist Church, and the Rev. H. S. Dye will conduct the services. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Andrew Purkey was born in Warren County, Ohio, September 14, 1849. He moved with his parents to Illinois, and later moved to Iowa. In the fall of 1895, he came to Emporia from Walker, Lynn [sic; should by Lyon] County, Iowa. He was married in April [7], 1887, in Walker, Iowa, to Miss Jerusha Blair, by whom he is survived. He is also survived by two sisters. They are Mrs. J. S. Jones, of Emporia, and Mrs. Maggie Dafoe, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mr. Purkey was a member of the Free Methodist Church.
