Born in Wilkes-Barre Pa., Leonard lived in Newark, N.j., then Kearny for 30 years before moving to Paramus five years ago.
He served in the U.S. Army as a heavy machine gunner in the European Theater of Operations in France and in Germany with Company H, 157th Infantry, 45th Division. He was honorably discharge in 1945. Mr. Brown was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and thoroughly enjoyed their World Series Championships in 2004-2007. He was the manager of the softball team sponsored by Joyce's Tavern in Newark for several years. He loved music and playing harmonica, often performing for both residents and staff at the Veterans Home.
He is survived by his daughter, Patrica Scaduto (Ben), and his grandson, Anthony C. Kishko. He was the brother of Dorothy Glofka; also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Josephine Benafante Brown, formerly of Palermo, Sicily, and his son, Kenneth J. Brown. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Frank, Emmett, James, Joseph, Martin, Jr., Paul. Thomas, Eugene and Gertrude Conwell.

From my research I found that Leonard was Baptized at Holy Saviour Church in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., on September 1, 1918, his god parents John and Bridget Brislin. During that time the historic Monsignor J.J. Curran performed the Baptism.
