He was born April 19, 1935 in Webster City, Iowa the son of Frederic E. and Ona A. Lunning Harvey. He married Sharon James on May 4, 1957 in Knoxville, Ill. He later married Mary E. Johnson on February 17, 1973 in Galesburg. They both preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, Robert D. (Marie) Harvey of Reno, Nev.; his daughter, Julie A. Gibson and grandchildren, Chandler and Alex, of Parchment, Mich.; his sister, Janet A. Hilton of Galesburg; and three brothers, Gary (Kay), Fred (Nancy) and Paul (Judy) Harvey, all of Galesburg. He is preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Tucker and brother, James Harvey.
After graduating from Galesburg High in 1953, Dale served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956, during which time he was stationed in Korea.
Dale was co-owner of Harvey Brothers, Inc., where he worked for 52 years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of First Lutheran Church.
In his free time, Dale enjoyed playing golf. For many years he was active in the Dew Dusters golf league at Bunker Links Golf Course, and he was a long time member of Lake Bracken Country Club. In addition to being a lifelong Cardinal baseball fan and Life Master Bridge player, Dale enjoyed cribbage, fishing and greeting everyone with a smile.
Graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Pamela Marolla will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
