Obituary
Mrs. W.S. Davis, of Lincoln township, died of appoplexy at her home June 27, 1900, in the 43rd year of her life. Ella James was born in Belmont county, Ohio, September 14, 1857, and removed to Republic county, Kansas, with her parents, settling in Liberty township in 1871, where she engaged in teaching school for a number of years, and was married to W.S. Davis Sept. 1, 1878, and removed to the homestead of Mr. Davis, where she resided at the time of her death. She leaves a husband, five children, an aged mother, five brothers and three sisters to mourn her loss. Funeral services were held at her home, conducted by Elder Chapman, who took for his text "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth." Deceased was followed to her last resting place in the Belleville cemetery by a host of sorrowing and sympathizing friends. The community will deeply feel the loss of Mrs. Davis, as she has ever been ready to extend a helping hand to all in need of help.
