Fry- Henry Fry was born on the fourteenth day of April 1833 and died on
Saturday, Nov 25, 1911. He was a son of Samuel and Mary Fry who settled here
many years ago. He was one of a family of 4 children and had been a very active
man all his life. Thursday afternoon he was taken seriously ill and he died 2
days later. He was born on the farm where he died and spent his entire life
there with the exception of 3 years spent at Conesus, Livingston Co., NY. On the
third day of February 1856 he was united in marriage to Miss Louisa Steckle, who
died 2 years ago. Of the union, 4 daughters were born. In the year 1864 Mr. Fry
responded to the call of his country and from that time till the close of the
Was he was in active service. In 1856 he was converted and united with the
Evangelical association and his since been an active and faithful member. Having
for years been class leader ant holding various other offices in the church
which was near and dear to him. Mr. Fry was a man of deep integrity always being
ready to defend the right. He was a kind and loving father and will be sadly
missed in the family especially by the only daughter, Mrs. C. W. Wambold who has
looked after and tenderly cared for him during his declining years. Mr. Fry had
one brother, John Fry, who died several years ago. Two sisters, Mrs. John
Grunder of this place and Mrs. Mary Gelser, who had left a few days before to
spend the winter at Copper Creek, Arizona.
The funeral was held from the church last Tuesday at 2:00 pm. The service was
conducted by his pastor, Rev. J.C. Grenzebach. Thus was laid to rest one more
old soldier to await that great day when the comrades shall be reunited.
